TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- The 2003 Miss University of Alabama scholarship
program competition will be held Saturday, Feb. 1, at 7 p.m. in
the Ferguson Center ballroom on the UA campus.
Fifteen contestants will compete in categories of eveningwear,
swimsuit/physical fitness, talent, and private interview. The winner
will represent UA at the 2003 Miss Alabama Pageant in June at Samford
University’s Wright Auditorium in Birmingham.
The new Miss Alabama will then represent the state of Alabama in
the Miss America Pageant in Atlantic City, N.J., in September. The
Miss America Organization is the largest scholarship organization
for women in the world.
Tickets may be purchased in the ballroom lobby the night of the
pageant or from any contestant.
The contestants are:
- Jennifer Browning, 20, a sophomore from Thomaston, Ga.,
majoring in communicative disorders
- D’Anne Cagle, 22, a junior from Marietta, Ga.,
majoring in fashion design
- Shannon Christine Camper, 23, a senior from Gadsden majoring
in broadcast journalism
- Christina Carden, 19, a sophomore from Hanceville majoring
in public relations
- Kate Collins, 19, a sophomore from Fayette majoring in
elementary education
- Allison Leigh Duncan, 20, a junior from Tuscaloosa majoring
in business management
- Carlin Rebecca Foster, 19, a sophomore from Birmingham
majoring in fashion retailing
- Kimberly Crystin Hunter, 19, a freshman from Highland
Lake majoring in journalism
- Carrie Jacqueline Juliano, 20, a junior from Birmingham
majoring in advertising
- Rachel Elizabeth Laurie, 20, a senior from Chatom majoring
in finance
- Jennifer Marie Miesse, 19, a freshman from Germantown,
Tenn., majoring in nursing
