TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Alabama Women’s Wheelchair Basketball
Team will perform at halftime of the UA men’s basketball game against Temple
on Saturday, Dec. 11, at 6 p.m. in Coleman Coliseum.
In their second season, the UA Women’s Wheelchair Basketball Team has 8 wins
and 7 losses against mostly men’s teams. The team competes in the Women’s
Division of the National Wheelchair Basketball Association, known as the NWBA, and
will continue to play against men’s teams in games and tournaments across the
Southeast in order to qualify for the Women’s National Wheelchair tournament
at Slippery Rock University in Slippery Rock, Penn., Feb. 23-27, 2005.
The halftime exhibition will be a chance for Alabama basketball fans to see their
team in action and honor team member and 2004 Paralympic Gold Medal winner Stephanie
Wheeler, a UA graduate student in kinesiology from Norlina, N.C.
