Black Warrior Review Celebrates 30th Anniversary

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- The Black Warrior Review (BWR), The University of Alabama’s graduate literary magazine, will hold a reception in honor of the magazine’s 30th anniversary Tuesday, Feb. 24, from 5-6:30 p.m. in the W.S. Hoole Special Collections Library on the UA campus.

An exhibition of materials from BWR will be on display at the Hoole Library. The archives of BWR recently have been given to the Hoole Special Collections Library, and will become part of the library’s rich manuscript collection. The collection includes original cover art, broadsides and operational records from the last 30 years. The exhibit will be on display for the remainder of the semester.

The event and exhibit is free and open to the public.

Black Warrior Review is a nationally recognized literary magazine published twice a year by graduate students in the UA Creative Writing Program. It features fiction and poetry from contemporary writers as well as literary essays and artwork. Each issue showcases a chapbook, a substantial selection of work, from a nationally known poet.

For more information about this event, please contact Jessica Lacher-Feldman, public outreach services coordinator of the W.S. Hoole Special Collections Library at 205/348-0500, archives@bama.ua.edu, or Aaron Welborn, BWR managing editor, at 205/348-4518, bwr@ua.edu.
