TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Alabama College of Human
Environmental Sciences Chapter of Eta Sigma Delta, the international
hospitality honor society, recently announced its inductees to the
society.
Eta Sigma Delta, a part of the Council of Hotel, Restaurant Institutional
Educators, recognizes academic excellence of hospitality management
students. Students in the academic top 20 percent of the school
are invited to join. The organizations’ members engage in
community service activities, tutoring for hospitality management
students, social activities and professional service to the hospitality
industry.
The following UA students were inducted into Eta Sigma Delta: Valerie

Kathryn Nicole Greer, Wilmer; Rebecca Ashley Holt, Cedar Bluff;
Makio Iizuka, Tokyo, Japan; Elizabeth K. Journy, Vestavia Hills;
Natalie Lee Lyons, Athens, Ga; Valerie Lauren Shirley, Talladega;
Katie Ann Sipe, Hillsboro, Tenn; Elizabeth Frances Treadway, Covington,
La; Anchittha Techarakpong, Birmingham; Craig McGee Williams, Tuscaloosa;
and Katie Susanne Butler, Tuscaloosa.
The College of Human Environmental Sciences at The University of
Alabama, established in 1917, is well known for its comprehensive
approach to higher education. Students seeking degrees in professional
service industries are served by the College’s academic programs,
classroom instruction, real-world experience and mentoring by faculty.
The College offers degree programs for careers in apparel and textile,
athletic training, consumer sciences, early childhood development,
financial planning and counseling, food and nutrition, family and
consumer science education, health studies, human development and
family studies and interior design.
