TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- During January, members of Men Against Violence
at The University of Alabama are sponsoring the White Ribbon Campaign,
an international campaign in which men make a pledge to help stop
violence against women.
As part of the pledge, men are to wear a white ribbon signifying
their promise to never commit, condone or remain silent about violence
towards women. Men are also encouraged to participate in “These
Hands Don’t Hurt” a visual display of paper hands that
men sign in an attempt to end violence against women.
The white ribbons and hands will be available at UA Get-on-Board
Day Jan. 21 and in the Ferguson Center on Jan. 28 from 11 a.m.-2
p.m. at a table set up by Men Against Violence. Information concerning
the white ribbon campaign and violence against women will also be
available.
For more information, contact Stephanie Chalifoux at the UA Women’s
Resource Center, 205/348-5040, or http://wrc.ua.edu.
