The Blackburn Institute, founded in 1995 by Dr. John Blackburn, was created as a
way for students to learn about the civic concerns facing the state of Alabama and
how to solve them. As a division of UA Student Affairs in the Office
of Leadership Development, the Institute works to provide information and experience
to future community leaders through forums, symposiums and travel experiences.
