TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Dr. Robert W. Ingram, director of the nationally ranked
Culverhouse School of Accountancy at The University of Alabama, has been named senior
associate dean of UA’s Culverhouse College of
Commerce and Business Administration.
Ingram replaces Dr. Walter S. Misiolek, who resigned the position to return to teaching
economics. The change is effective Aug.16.
In making the announcement, Dr. J. Barry Mason, dean of the College, said, “We
are fortunate to have an administrator of Dr. Ingram’s caliber on hand to assume
this very important position. Dr. Misiolek has set high standards during his 13 years
as senior associate dean, and he has been invaluable to our efforts to advance the
business school to levels of excellence as measured by national standards.” The
senior associate dean is also director of the College’s graduate programs.
Ingram received his Bachelor of Arts from Eastern New Mexico University and his Master
of Arts from Abilene Christian University. He received his doctorate from Texas Tech
University.
He recently was recognized as one of accounting education’s 15 most prolific
authors of accounting literature, according to a study published in Advances in Accounting,
2003. Ingram was listed 12th.
Misiolek, professor of economics, has been senior associate dean for the past 13 years.
He served as interim dean of the business school for a year while Mason served as interim
president of the University following the departure of President Andrew Sorensen.
The undergraduate accounting program at the Culverhouse School of Accountancy is ranked
number 25 nationally in the latest Public Accounting Report rankings. Mason
said the business school is in the process of assessing candidates to replace Ingram
as head of the school of accountancy.
