TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Former members of The University of Alabama Million Dollar
Band and former and current members of the Crimson Tide Cheerleading Squad will reminisce
and share their “behind the scenes” experiences of UA football game entertainment
during a pre-game presentation Saturday, Nov. 6 at 3 p.m. at the Bryant Conference
Center in Tuscaloosa. The presentation is free and open to the public.
The Alabama Crimson Tide football team will play Mississippi State. Kickoff is at
5:30 p.m.
Cornelius Carter, UA professor of dance, will moderate the panel discussion of how
hours of rehearsal, choreography, and precision teamwork come together to help create
the pageantry that is college football. The presentation is the last of three football
season presentations by UA faculty entitled, “A Touch of Class on Game Day.”
Earlier pre-game presentations looked at The Human Genome Project and crime scene
investigations by anthropologists.
“A Touch of Class” also offers fans boxed lunches to munch on during
the presentation for $10, or $5 for a special children’s lunch. Box lunches
will be served from 2 to 3 p.m. Call, toll free, 866/307-3917 to make reservations
for the Nov. 6 (Mississippi State) pre-game meal and talk.
The event is sponsored by UA’s College of Arts and Sciences, Bryant Conference
Center and the College of Continuing Studies. More information is available at http://www.as.ua.edu/as/.
The Bryant Conference Center is located at 240 Bryant Drive, next door to the Bryant
