TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- Talented University of Alabama students have a chance to audition
to be mtvU’s new video jockey (VJ) by participating in the 2004 mtvU Road Trip
Tour on the UA campus Friday, Oct. 15.
On Friday, an activity village will be set up in Ferguson Plaza from 10 a.m. until
3 p.m. Students interested in auditioning to be an mtvU VJ must present a valid UA
Action card.
This month, mtvU is visiting 10 universities across the country, selecting one finalist
from each school. Five finalists, who will be announced in November, will show off
their skills on air on mtvU and will be judged by the audience voting online at mtvU.com
to select the winner. The ultimate winner will be announced in late November and will
showcase their talent as a VJ during mtvU’s Spring Break ’05.
The winner of the audition at UA will be announced Friday, Oct. 15, at the homecoming
concert that begins after the 7 p.m. pep rally and bonfire on the Quad.
Potential VJs will be tested on their knowledge of music, video games, movies, on-air
composure and interviewing skills. Entrants will be able to take with them their audition
on a VHS tape with advertiser commercials, along with other great give-away prizes.
Interested students can download an application at www.mtvU.com.
