UA Employees Who Served in Military After 9-11 to be Honored During Sept. 11 Pre-Game Ceremonies

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – University of Alabama employees who have served in the military services since the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001 will be honored during a pre-game ceremony prior to the UA vs. Ole Miss football game on Sept. 11.

During the ceremony, 22 UA faculty and staff members, dressed in uniform, will line the field while their names, rank, branch of service, where they served, and UA department will be announced and featured on the stadium’s Jumbotron.

On hand to thank these soldiers for their service will be Lt. Gen. John Vines, commanding general of the XVIII Airborne Corps and Fort Bragg. Vines is a 1971 UA alumnus.

UA employees still on active duty with Operation Iraqi Freedom will also be recognized with their names featured on the Jumbotron.

Kickoff for the Alabama-Ole Miss game is scheduled for 8 p.m.
