TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Radio broadcaster Eli Gold, best known
as the Voice of The University of Alabama Crimson Tide,” will
sign copies of his new book, “Crimson Nation: The Shaping
of the South’s Most Dominant Football Team” from noon
until 3 p.m. on Aug. 18 at the Paul W. Bryant Museum, on the UA
campus.
In his recently published book, Gold, who has served as UA’s
football play-by-play announcer for nearly 20 years, shares his
selection of the 20 greatest moments that shaped the football program.
With chapters on topics such as the 1926 Rose Bowl, the hiring

integration, national championship seasons, and his take on the
Tide’s future, Gold walks the reader through the colorful
history that is Crimson Tide football.
Featuring such legendary Tide football players as Joe Namath,
Kenny Stabler and Johnny Musso, the 228-page book is written in
chronological order and has a foreword from former UA coach Gene
Stallings.
“As I see it through my crimson-colored glasses,” Gold
writes, “the future is as bright as its radiant past.” A
Brooklyn, N.Y. native, Gold has covered live NASCAR races since
1976 and hosts the nationally syndicated radio call-in show NASCAR
Live.
The Aug. 18 book signing is sponsored by University Supply Store
