UA Sarah Moody Gallery of Art Hosts Faculty Art Exhibit

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Sarah Moody Gallery of Art on The University of Alabama campus will feature the work of current and emeritus department of art faculty of the College of Arts and Sciences in the exhibition “Department of Art Faculty Exhibition 2006.”

The exhibition opens with a reception at the gallery in 103 Garland Hall on Jan. 26 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. and continues its run through Feb. 26. Current and emeritus faculty members whose work will be on exhibit include W. Lowell Baker, Tom Barnes, Henry Betak, Gay Burke, William Dooley, Brian Evans, Angelo Granata, Uta-Maria Krapf, Sarah Marshall, Al Sella and Craig Wedderspoon. Works included represent the mediums of photography, sculpture, printmaking, painting, drawing and ceramics.

“The majority of the department faculty exhibit their work within regional and national venues beyond Alabama, so the faculty exhibition is a special occasion to view their art work in a single location in Tuscaloosa,” said Bill Dooley, gallery director and chair of the art and art history department.

The exhibition is free and open to the public.

Funding support for the Sarah Moody Gallery of Art comes from the UA College of Arts and Sciences. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. weekdays and 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday. For further information, contact the gallery at 205/348-1891.

The College of Arts and Sciences is the University’s largest division and the largest public liberal arts college in the state. Students from the college have won numerous national awards including Rhodes Scholarships, Goldwater Scholarships and memberships on the “USA Today” Academic All American Team.
