TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama Museum of Natural History will host a St. Valentine’s Day dinner, featuring a presentation by California winemaker Victor Hugo Roberts, Feb. 14 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in Smith Hall, located near Sixth Avenue on The University of Alabama campus.

Owner of Victor Hugo Vineyards and Winery in Paso Robles, Calif., Roberts will talk about his small, family-owned winery, specializing in handcrafted lots of wine with intense colors and flavors, and will feature wines to complement each course of the meal.

Since 1985, Roberts and his wife Leslie have been growing grapes and making wine on their Templeton property.

“Production is limited to retain outstanding quality and detail in all aspects of the process,” Roberts says. “Our winery is dedicated to producing elegant, rich wines exhibiting excellent longevity.”

Dinner will be served in historic Smith Hall’s Grand Gallery of ornate Corinthian columns below a majestic glass roof. The Gallery, one of the most beautifully proportioned interiors on the UA campus – perhaps in Alabama, houses exhibits of fossils, rocks and minerals from the Coal Age, Dinosaur Age and Ice Age.

Regular operating hours for UA’s Museum of Natural History are Tuesday – Saturday, 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Admission is $2 for adults and $1 for children and seniors.
