TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- The University of Alabama Blackburn Institute is hosting a broadcast of its November forum entitled “Rural Prosperity: Making Choices for Your Community.”

This half-hour television program based on the forum will air on WVUA, which is Channel 7 in Tuscaloosa County and closely surrounding areas, Channel 3 in Greensboro, and Channel 25 in Demopolis. The dates and times for the broadcast are as follows: Tuesday, May 24 at 10 a.m.; Friday, May 27 at 6:30 p.m.; Sunday, May 29 at

8 a.m.; Thursday, June 2 at 10:30 p.m.; Thursday, June 9 at 1:30 p.m.; and Saturday, June 11 at 4:30 p.m.

The forum, which was held in November in the Ferguson Center ballroom on campus, was a part of the larger Southern Growth Policies Board’s Rural Development Citizens Forums. It was designed to get feedback on the status of the South through discussion of rural issues by high school and college students. The forum was hosted by the UA Blackburn Institute and the UA Office of Community Affairs.

The Southern Growth Policies Board is a non-partisan public policy think tank based in Research Triangle Park, N.C. Formed by the region’s governors in 1971, the SGPB develops and advances economic development policies by providing a forum for collaboration.
