TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- The University of Alabama Blackburn
Institute is hosting a broadcast of its November forum entitled “Rural
Prosperity: Making Choices for Your Community.”
This half-hour television program based on the forum will air
on WVUA, which is Channel 7
in Tuscaloosa County and closely surrounding areas, Channel 3 in
Greensboro, and Channel 25 in Demopolis. The dates and times for
the broadcast are as follows: Tuesday, May 24 at 10 a.m.; Friday,
May 27 at 6:30 p.m.; Sunday, May 29 at
8 a.m.; Thursday, June 2 at 10:30 p.m.; Thursday, June 9 at 1:30
p.m.; and Saturday, June 11 at 4:30 p.m.
The forum, which was held in November in the Ferguson Center
ballroom on campus, was a part of the larger Southern Growth Policies
Board’s Rural Development Citizens Forums. It was designed
to get feedback on the status of the South through discussion of
rural issues by high school and college students. The forum was
hosted by the UA Blackburn Institute and the UA Office of Community
Affairs.
The Southern Growth Policies Board is a non-partisan public policy
think tank based in Research Triangle Park, N.C. Formed by the
region’s governors in 1971, the SGPB develops and advances
economic development policies by providing a forum for collaboration.
