TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Anne McAliley Moman of Northport has
been named The University of Alabama Alumni Association’s
Distinguished Alumna Recipient for 2005.
Moman, a native of Geneva County, graduated from UA in 1963 with
a degree in biology. Moman has served on the Tombigbee Girl Scouts
Council, the Tuscaloosa County Preservation Society, and the Tuscaloosa
Symphony Orchestra Endowment Fund Committee.
She has also served as the president of the Junior League Association
and the Mental Health Association of Tuscaloosa County. Since working
for the Mental Health Association, Moman chaired a fund raiser
that secured $500,000 for the Betty Shirley Clinic for Psychiatric
and Behavioral Medicine.
Today, Moman continues to contribute to the University by serving
as the president of the Alpha Chi Omega Alumnae Club and the Alpha
Chi Omega House Corp. She is also a member of UA’s College
of Community Health Sciences Foundation Board.
Moman and her husband, Guy, have two children: Jennifer and David.
The Alabama Alumni Association annually
awards alumni that demonstrate loyalty and service to The University
of Alabama. The recipients are chosen based on their character
and personal life, their professional achievements and success
in chosen endeavors, and community service on both local and state
levels.
