TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- Deborah Young Sanders of Jasper has been named
vice president of District III for The University of Alabama National
Alumni Association.
Sanders, a Jeweler for Young Jewelers in Jasper, graduated from
UA in 1975 with a degree in retailing. Since that time she has
been highly involved with the UA Alumni Association serving on
the Walker County Scholarship, Recruitment and Golf Tournament
Committee.
She is also a member of the board of directors for First National
Bank and DHR, a former president of the Jasper Business and Professional
Woman, Downtown Merchants Association, United Methodist Women Administration.
She also serves on the Board for the First United Methodist Church
and is a member of the Alabama Jewelers Association.
Sanders, and husband, Joseph, have two children: Jessica, 19,
and Iris, 13.
The National Alumni Association is
divided into 16 districts within Alabama and six regions outside
the state. Each is represented by a vice president who serves on
the NAA Executive Committee and makes decisions concerning the
organization and funding of a variety of programs and events to
benefit alumni, students and the University. The National Alumni
Association supports UA through the combined efforts of its volunteer
leadership, the alumni staff and more than 28,000 active members.
