TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- The University of Alabama’s Everywoman
Book Club will meet to discuss the book “Food for Our Grandmothers:
Writings by Arab-Americans and Arab-Canadian Feminists” by
Joanna Kadi on Tuesday, Nov. 8, at 6 p.m. in Hooligan’s Restaurant
on University Blvd. in Tuscaloosa.
According to Library Journal, this set of essays, poems
and recipes highlights some of the experiences and attitudes of
North American women of Arab descent. This collection captures
and celebrates a culture little known to the West. Contributors
to this piece share personal childhood memories of family comfort
and social rejection.
The event is open to the public.
