TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Television producers in the Center for
Public Television and Radio in the College
of Communication and Information Sciences at The University
of Alabama are going to round two of their search for a co-host
of an original reality series focusing on the fashion issues of
everyday people.
The producers received videotapes from all over the country and
have narrowed the search to 11 people. The semifinalists, who are
from Tuscaloosa, Northport, Birmingham, New York City, Houston
and Atlanta, will be in Tuscaloosa for the second round of auditions
on Sunday, Oct. 30. They will have to complete tasks related to
fashion, but they will not know specifics beforehand. Finalists
will be chosen from this group and announced next week.
The new series is expected to debut as part of UA’s plan
to produce original programming for Channel 23, its full power,
commercial station. Channel 23 will feature sports, entertainment,
news and informational programming emanating from UA’s campus
in Tuscaloosa, according to officials. UA acquired Channel 23 in
2004, joining an elite group of three public universities owning
commercial television stations.
