Funeral Services for Longtime UA Prof to be Held Wednesday in Moody Music Building on Campus

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Funeral services for Dr. Harold Bishop, one of the first African-American faculty members at The University of Alabama, will be held Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 1 p.m. at the Moody Music Building on the UA campus.

Bishop, professor of educational administration, passed away Friday in Tuscaloosa at the age of 62.

He had been a member of the UA College of Education since 1974. His research and service areas focused on school administrators, and he was a frequent consultant to numerous Alabama school systems.

In 2002, he co-founded the UA Superintendents’ Academy to assist the Alabama State Department of Education in attracting and training a larger and wider pool of candidates for superintendent positions around the state.
