Scholar and Yoga Teacher to Give Classes at UA

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- Dr. Vasundhara Doraswamy, a torchbearer of the Pandanallur tradition in Bharatanatyam traditional Indian dance, will lead a number of free yoga classes for UA students, faculty and staff in room 123 of Blount Residence Hall.

Classes will be offered Monday, Sept. 12 and Tuesday, Sept. 13 from 5-6 p.m. and from 6:15-7:15 p.m. and Wednesday, Sept. 14 from 6-7 p.m. Props will be provided. Participants are encouraged to come on an empty stomach and in loose clothes.

Doraswamy is a prime disciple of Shri Pattabhi Jois, the world-known founder of Ashtanga Yoga, with whom she has been in almost daily interaction for nearly 40 years.
