UA Women's Resource Center Kicks Off Brown Bag Lecture Series

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- The University of Alabama Women’s Resource Center and the women’s studies department in the UA College of Arts and Sciences are sponsoring the first Brown Bag lecture in the fall semester lecture series on Wednesday, Sept. 6 at 12:30 p.m. in 107 Manly Hall.

Dr. Kathy Oths, UA professor of anthropology, will be the guest lecturer. Oths is a medical anthropologist with an area specialization in Latin America. She is the recipient of the 2005 Morris Lehman Meyer Award, a UA Premier Award, and the 2005 Outstanding Commitment to Students Award.

Oths will discuss her latest research entitled, “Psychosocial Work Stress and the Risk of Miscarriage in Alabama Women: Are there Ethnic Differences?”

This program is part of the women’s studies department and the Women’s Resource Center’s Brown Bag Series. It is open to the public, and students are encouraged to bring their brown bag lunches and a friend.
