UA's Sigma Alpha Epsilon to Hold Blood Drive

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- The University of Alabama fraternity, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, will hold the Noble Leslie DeVotie Memorial Blood Drive on Tuesday, Jan. 24 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the SAE fraternity house on University Blvd.

The blood drive, which is named after Noble Leslie DeVotie, the founder of Sigma Alpha Epsilon, is scheduled to commemorate his 168th birthday.

"I think Noble Leslie DeVotie would be proud of our efforts. Regardless of the problem, there is nothing that cannot be accomplished when our entire university comes together. While the SAE house may be hosting this event, this should really be seen as a chance for the entire University community to do its part." said SAE secretary, William Bloom.

The main focus of the blood drive is to help end the blood shortage that is facing the community and the state. SAE hopes to inspire other organizations to help in this effort and to increase blood donation in the community.

“The SAE house is proud to be a part of helping the Tuscaloosa community and the entire region. When we learned of the drastic blood shortage facing our region, our house determined it prudent to do what we could to help alleviate this crisis. I'm certainly proud of the efforts of every member of our house, as it really has been a team effort." said SAE president, Taylor Williams.

This blood drive is open to the public. For more information, contact Bloom at 334/462-4923 or WBloom2005@aol.com.
