UA Department of Theatre and Dance Presents 'Dance Alabama!' Sept. 20-23
3 dancers

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Alabama department of theatre and dance presents “Dance Alabama!” Sept. 20-23 in the Morgan Auditorium in the UA theatre district.

The diverse array of backgrounds showcases senior level dancers and choreographers as well as their freshman counterparts. A number of male choreographed works are featured in this year’s production, a change of pace for this traditionally female art form.

“This performance is sure to radiate the extensive talent and training of the student artist,” said Cornelius Carter, director of dance. “Ranging in style from classical ballet to modern to jazz and tap, this fall concert will inspire the youngest dreams and invigorate the oldest soul.”

Shows are at 7:30 p.m., and tickets are $12 for the general public, $10 for UA faculty, staff and senior citizens and $8 for students. Tickets can be purchased at the box office in Rowand-Johnson Hall Monday through Friday, noon to 5 p.m., or by calling 205/348-3400.

The department of theatre and dance is housed in the College of Arts and Sciences, the University’s largest division and the largest public liberal arts college in the state. Students from the College have won numerous national awards including Rhodes Scholarships, Goldwater Scholarships and memberships on the “USA Today” Academic All American Team.
