Avett Brothers to Perform as Part of UA Public Radio's Anniversary Celebration

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- As part of a yearlong 25th anniversary celebration, Alabama Public Radio will host a concert featuring the Avett Brothers with opening act Will Kimbrough on March 31 at 7:30 p.m. at the Bama Theatre in Tuscaloosa.

The concert is a benefit for WUAL-FM/Alabama Public Radio at The University of Alabama. Doors will open at 6:45 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online at www.ticketleap.com. They will also be available the day of the show at the Bama Theatre. Tickets are $15 for reserved seating and $10 for general admission.

The Avett Brothers, a group comprised of Seth and Scott Avett and bassist Bob Crawford is a mixture of old-time country, bluegrass, pop melodies, folk, rock n' roll, honky-tonk and ragtime. Listeners merely need one spin through the album to realize the breadth and depth of the Avett's music. The infectious "Love Like The Movies," the get-up-and-go of the opener, "The Traveling Song," the heartache of "Pretty Girl From Annapolis," and the somber "Smoke In Our Lights" show the range of emotion and conviction within the songwriting.

The group has high goals for their music. Beyond selling records, touring endlessly, and winning over new fans, the Avetts say they hope to continue to create music that will provoke thought, change perceptions and simply bring something new into the world.

This November, through a partnership with the Tuscaloosa Arts Council, APR will bring well-known bluegrass artist Claire Lynch to Tuscaloosa. For more information, contact APR at 205/348-6644 or 1-800-654-4262.
