TUSCALOOSA – Sculpture, paintings, drawings and other artworks that show off the vivid imaginations of The University of Alabama’s art faculty are on display at the Sarah Moody Gallery of Art (http://art.ua.edu/moody.html).

“Department of Art All Faculty Exhibition 2008,” a biennial event, will be on display through Monday, Feb. 3, at 103 Garland Hall on The University of Alabama campus. The show unveils more than 30 works by the faculty of the department of art, a part of UA’s College of Arts and Sciences. Many of the works are for sale.

A reception for the show is set from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, at the gallery.

The show is an excellent opportunity to sample what the department has to offer as well as to discover the Moody Gallery, a key component of the University’s arts scene.

“Our mission is to enhance the lives of community members and to be of service to the more than 300 department of art students,” said Vicki Rial, Sarah Moody Gallery of Art coordinator. “We give students the opportunity to come see art from local, regional, national and international sources. The more you can look at, the more inspiration you’ll have for your own art.”

Among the works on display are “Brown Lady,” a digital photo by Amalia Amaki, and “Knight,” an oil-canvas work of a knight with a mouse head by Tom Wegrzynowski. Other artists with pieces in the show are Bill Dooley, Kaitlin Redborg, Alvin Sella, Brian Bishop, Henry Betak, Susan S. Roberts, Pat Snow, W. Lowell Baker, Jamey Grimes, Angelo Granata, Brian Thompson, James Hudnall, Uta-Maria Krapf, Ashley Oates, Jerry Lamme, Daniel Livingston, Chip Cooper, Brian Evans, Colin C. Stearns, Anita H. Stewart, Gay Burke, Tom Barnes, Sarah Marshall and Craig Wedderspoon.

Funding support for the Sarah Moody Gallery of Art comes from the department of art and the College of Arts & Sciences at The University of Alabama. The gallery is on Woods Quad at 103 Garland Hall.
