Gas price spike doesn’t halt drivers

7 students receive scholarships compliments of Harry I. Brown Sr.
Talledega Daily Home – May 16

Thanks to the generosity of Harry I. Brown Sr., seven students from south Talladega County received $1,500 scholarships to the University of Alabama. Brown, a retired Sylacauga banker, started the Harry I. and Margaret Brown Endowed Scholarships to his alma mater to give students an opportunity to continue their education.

James Hood Recovers from Stroke

James Hood is recovering from a stroke he suffered last month. Hood was one of the first African-American students to enroll at UA in 1963.
