Coach Saban speaks to fans at the Zone – Nursing student receives new DCH scholarship – Military honors UA professor

Saban cheers on 500 fans, alumni in Tuscaloosa
Tuscaloosa News – May 9

University of Alabama football coach Nick Saban brought his philosophy of 'the process' and delivered its message to about 500 alumni and fans Thursday at the Zone in Bryant-Denny Stadium as part of the first Crimson Caravan tour. Hosted by the Tuscaloosa Chapter of the Alabama Alumni Association, it was the sixth of seven planned events aimed at engaging Saban with supporters of the university…Saban addressed the crowd for 45 minutes, which included a question and answer session. UA President Robert Witt spoke earlier in the evening…

Award carries on nursing student’s dream
Tuscaloosa News – May 9

…The Ladner family, along with DCH employees, have created the largest endowed scholarship in the history of DCH Health System. The scholarship, called the Benjamin Lewis Ladner Memorial Fund, will be awarded annually through the DCH Foundation to a DCH employee to study nursing at UA’s Capstone College of Nursing….The endowment, about $50,000, will fund an annual $2,500 scholarship. The first person to receive the scholarship, UA junior Ben Allen, shares more than just a first name with Ladner. He also works at DCH, but as a surgical technician. It has also been Allen’s longtime dream to study nursing, and said that once he graduates in 2010, he hopes to become a traveling or flight nurse.
